MOD Pizza’s Vegan Pizza Options
In the name, MOD stands for made-on-demand. As such, it can be expected that the pizza chain allows you to make your own pizzas! Thankfully, MOD Pizza keeps all dietary restrictions in mind, allowing vegetarians and vegans to make some delicious pizza options. They know that vegans love pizza, too, and they aim to make it more accessible in all of the communities that they serve.
Let’s start with the crust. At this point in time, MOD pizza offers two vegan crust options. These two options are their Original Crust and their Gluten-Friendly Crust. You might think that the cauliflower option offered by MOD is vegan, but it uses milk and eggs. That means it’s off the list for vegans, of course.
The next step in building your pizza comes down to the sauce. If you’re a sauce-lover, you’ll be happy to know that MOD offers four different vegan sauces! MOD Pizza offers a classic, vegan-friendly Red Sauce. They also have vegan BBQ Sauce, Garlic Rub, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. With all of these vegan sauce options, you can tell that MOD cares about serving people with all sorts of diets.
Here come the toppings! MOD Pizza has been proudly serving vegan cheese from Daiya since 2015. This has been a great option for vegans. As of August 31st, MOD has also partnered with Plantly to offer vegan Italian sausage to their customers! This is monumental. It’s also an interesting decision, since most chain restaurants choose to serve vegan proteins produced by Beyond or Impossible. The other vegan toppings offered by MOD Pizza are below:
- Artichokes
- Arugula
- Banana peppers
- Fresh basil
- Black olives
- Roasted broccoli
- Cilantro
- Roasted corn
- Greek olives
- Green bell peppers
- Jalapenos
- Mama Lil’s Sweet Hot Peppas
- Mushrooms
- Oregano
- Fresh or roasted pineapple
- Red onion
- Roasted red peppers
- Romaine
- Fresh rosemary
- Sea salt
- Black pepper
- Serrano peppers
- Spinach
- Spring mix lettuces
- Diced or sliced tomatoes
At the end of your pizza building experience comes the finishing sauce. MOD Pizza offers a range of different sauces to top your pizza with. Of the seven offerings available, there are four vegan options. They include a delicious Balsamic Fig Glaze, Red Sauce Dollops, A tangy BBQ Swirl, and a Hot Buffalo Sauce. These are a great way to add a different flavor profile to your already delicious pizza!
MOD Pizza’s Vegan Salad Options
In addition to creating personalized pizzas, MOD Pizza also allows people to make their own salads! The majority of the ingredients offered in the salads are vegan-friendly, however, the croutons are not. Be careful not to pick them when making a salad. The salad bases available are arugula, spinach, spring mix, or romaine. All of the toppings listed above for pizzas are also available on MOD Pizza’s salads.
The thing that most vegans are concerned about, and rightfully so, are the dressing options available at a restaurant. MOD Pizza offers three salad dressings that are vegan-friendly; Balsamic, Red Wine Vinegar, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
MOD Pizza’s Vegan Sides and Desserts
At this point in time, MOD Pizza does not have any vegan options for sides and desserts listed on their website, unfortunately. At one point in time, MOD was offering a Cinnamon Sticks dessert. While the cinnamon glaze wasn’t vegan, both the raspberry and chocolate sauce glazes were. It’s not clear if this menu item will be returning to MOD Pizza at this time.
MOD Pizza’s Vegan Menu FAQs
Up until very recently, MOD Pizza did not have a vegan protein option available on their menu. As of August 31st, however, MOD Pizza has started offering Plantly Italian Sausage. It is available at all 500 of MOD Pizza’s locations.
Plantly is chef-developed, and it is soy-free. It is a pea-protein based product, and is seasoned like a traditional Italian sausage with fennel, oregano, and thyme. MOD Pizza spent the better part of two years testing vegan protein options before choosing Plantly.
MOD Pizza offers some premade recipe ideas for their build-your-own pizza model, but none of them are exclusively vegan to start. Thankfully, however, any pizza can be made vegan with some easy modifications. MOD recommends that you let your pizza maker know about any dietary restrictions ahead of time, of course.
Yes it can be! MOD Pizza allows guests to modify just about any item on their menu that can be modified. The Cheesy Garlic Bread can be made vegan by substituting the standard cheese with Daiya vegan cheese. MOD has proudly offered Daiya on their menu since 2015.
Is MOD Pizza a Good Choice For Vegans?
Absolutely. MOD Pizza is a pizza chain that cares about its customers. As such, they listened to them in 2015, and began offering vegan cheese to accommodate diets of all kinds. The build-your-own pizza method that they employ is always one of the best options for vegans, especially when the ingredients are proven to be vegan friendly. To further their hospitality to guests with all diet restrictions, they put an emphasis on their ingredients. They make sure that what is available to you is something they’d eat themselves. As such, they don’t allow for any cross contamination possibilities, and make your pizza exactly the way you need it.
If you’re looking for the best vegan pizza in town, chances are you’ll find it at MOD Pizza. If pizza isn’t up your alley, have no fear! We’ve got plenty of other restaurant menu reviews and information. Check out all of the places that you can eat comfortably at, without worry.
