- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- ½ cup wheat germ
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup walnuts chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup + 2 tbsp honey
Assemble the ingredients.
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Mix flour, wheat germ, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Add in the walnuts and mix until well combined.
In another mixing bowl, whisk eggs and add buttermilk and honey. Whisk again until well combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients until thoroughly incorporated. It will be lumpy but do not overmix.
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x5 loaf pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
