Honey Walnut Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup wheat germ
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup walnuts chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup + 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Assemble the ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Mix flour, wheat germ, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add in the walnuts and mix until well combined.
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk eggs and add buttermilk and honey. Whisk again until well combined.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients until thoroughly incorporated. It will be lumpy but do not overmix.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x5 loaf pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
