Ingredients

  • 450 g 1 lb minced beef
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion small diced
  • ½ green bell pepper small diced
  • ½ cup tomato puree
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp ground mustard
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 medium or 2 large burger buns

Instructions

  • Heat the butter in the large stainless-steel pan over medium heat.
  • Add the minced beef to the pan. Sauté until the minced beef completely turns brown and semi-cooked.
  • Add onion and green pepper to the pan, continue to sauté until the veggies are tender. After the onion and green pepper are slightly cooked, pour the tomato puree, ketchup, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce and add spices to the pan.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes then pour the water gradually when all ingredients are completely combined. Let the water boil and cook the other ingredients for another 5 minutes with water. In this step, some of the water will evaporate and some will be absorbed by other ingredients.
  • Turn off the heat when it remains slightly juicy. If you wish, you can also heat the burger buns in the same pan after transferring the minced meat mixture to another container.
  • Generously put the sloppy joe mix you prepared into the burger buns.
