In a small bowl combine the flour with the icing sugar and baking powder.
Add the salt and mix well.
Add the butter, eggs, egg yolk, rum and orange zest.
Mix well then add 1 tbsp of water at a time until a firm dough forms.
Flatten to dough on a floured counter to a thickness of 5 mm.
Cut the dough into rectangles, and with a knife make a cut in the center of each rectangle.
Thread a corner inside the slit and stretch gently. Twist into shape.
Heat the oil in a deep pan at 350 degrees.
Fry the pastries for 2 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oil and sprinkle with icing sugar. Serve!
