Remove the tea leaves through a strainer and let the tea cool to room temperature.

Step 4: Make the tapioca boba

Cook the boba or tapioca pearls according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and rinse with cold water. You can also make homemade tapioca pearls

Step 5: Mix milk and agave until dissolved

Notes & Tips

  • Make sure to cook the boba or tapioca pearls according to the package instructions. Overcooked or undercooked boba can affect the texture and flavor of the drink.
  • You can add more or less boba according to your preference. You can also add other toppings, such as sliced fruit or grass jelly, to jasmine milk tea for added flavor and texture.
  • Don’t boil the tea leaves in water. For jasmine tea, the hot water should be set at 175°F. Also, don’t overstep the tea unless you like a strong bitter taste.
  • To avoid spillage, use a pitcher or teapot to pour the jasmine tea and milk with agave into the serving glasses.
  • You can use any type of milk you prefer, such as almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk. I like using unsweetened unflavored plant-based milk so that the jasmine tea can shine.
  • Adjust the amount of agave according to your taste preference. You’re welcome to use regular sugar, brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup to sweeten the tea as well.
  • Make sure to let the tea cool to room temperature before adding the milk and agave mixture. Adding hot tea to cold milk can cause the milk to curdle.
  • For a creamier texture, you can use half-and-half or sweetened condensed milk instead of regular milk. If using sweetened condensed milk, there’s no need to add agave or any other sweetener.
